Christina Schwarz
Associate Professor

My areas of expertise include: elementary and middle school science education, teacher education, learning technologies and curriculum materials in science education. I focus on inquiry-oriented and model-centered constructivist learning environments. My current research involves helping elementary and middle school teachers understand and develop skills in engaging their own students in the practices of science -- primarily model-centered scientific inquiry. I have been working on supporting the development of teaching practices through researching the use of instructional frameworks, learning technologies, and curriculum materials. I am also currently researching the development of modeling practices and their progression within upper elementary and middle school. Some of my additional interests include the history and philosophy of science and sociological and cultural practices of the science classroom.
